CHOATE TENNIS
1998 Spring Break Trip

     Members of the Choate tennis team were the guests of Tournament Director Charlie Pasarell and his family at the Champions Cup/Evert Cup in Indian Wells, California in March 1998. The tournament is a Mercedes Super 9 Series ATP TOUR championship as well as a Corel WTA TOUR Level I event. Participants in the 1998 tournament included Pete Sampras, Petr Korda, Patrick Rafter, Marcelo Rios, Greg Rusedski, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Jim Courier, and Thomas Muster on the men's side and Martina Hingis, Steffi Graf, Lindsay Davenport, Anna Kournikova, and Venus Williams among the women. The singles titles in Indian Wells were won by world #1 players Martina Hingis and Marcelo Rios.

     Coach Gallagher and the team are extraordinarily grateful to the Pasarells for their generosity and terrific hospitality in the California Desert.
